History: About Us

During Father Leo Adams' tenure at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1872 to 1875, the church sponsored a school that was run by Kate Collins. This sponsored school would be the start of St. Mary Catholic School.

When Father J.J. Macke arrived at St. Mary Catholic Church in 1880, he initiated the present school program. In 1882, the Sisters of St. Francis from Oldenburg came to establish and teach in the school. Sisters Mary Euphrasis, Mary Amanda, and Mary Fulgentis were the pioneers of establishing the present St. Mary Catholic School. In 1931, just over 50 years after the initiation of the school, there were over 100 children attending St. Mary Catholic School.

Our school has over 150 years of experience providing Catholic education. While many things have changed over the years at the school, the core beliefs and frameworks upon which the school was built remain the same. Christ and His teachings remain the foundation of the school's curriculum and practice. Our school has over 150 years of experience providing Catholic education. Daily, we live our mission, “…to provide a safe, Christ-centered learning environment in which each child is encouraged to grow to his or her fullest potential academically, spiritually, and physically.
